This episode is very special to me because my father was blind.

Blind since birth, Michael Hingson couldn’t see a thing on 9/11, but he could hear the sounds of shattering glass, falling debris, and terrified people flooding around him and his guide dog, Roselle. However, Roselle sat calmly beside him. In that moment, Michael chose to trust Roselle’s judgment and not to panic; they were a team with a mission to survive.

Their story is the subject of his best-selling book, Thunder Dog.

Immediately after the 9/11 tragedy, Michael was featured on the Larry King show five times. The media exposure thrust him onto the world stage, changed the course of his life, and launched him from high-tech sales into a speaking career.

When COVID hit he discovered that he “had not begun teaching others how to control their own, what I call, blinding fears from unexpected extreme life changes such as the current pandemic.” That realization spurred him to create a life coaching program entitled “Blinded By Fear”.”

As a speaker, Hingson gives over 100 presentations around the world each year speaking to influential groups such as Exxon Mobile, AT&T, Federal Express, Scripps College, Rutgers University, Children’s Hospital, and the American Red Cross just to name a few. Hingson is Ambassador for the National Braille Literacy Campaign for the National Federation of the Blind and also serves as Ambassador for the American Humane Association’s 2012 Hero Dog Awards.

Join us for this special episode to learn how you can control your own blinding fears during unexpected – or expected – extreme life changes!
