Shawn Barksdale says “I was in prison for 15 years but my mind was still free.”

Ok, so you’re not in prison… But is your mind in prison although you’re still free?!?

Are you so focused on your mistakes and failures that they’re holding you back and preventing you from reaching your potential? It’s time to break free from that self-imposed prison.

Just before he was sentenced to 15 years for armed robbery, Shawn learned he was going to be a father. Right then he made a conscious decision to turn his life around and be the best father he could be. He worked towards that every single day that he was incarcerated. For 15 YEARS.

Fast forward: his daughter recently graduated from college and Shawn is a successful entrepreneur, podcaster, mentor to youth and adults, and father to two young children.

In addition to owning a business and hosting the podcast Ten Minutes of Truth, his Boots On the Ground program and Pens Not Pistols poetry contest help bridge the gap between youth, law enforcement and education. He’s also one of the 50 entrepreneurs featured in my book, Disrupt Your Now.

15 years is a long time but he didn’t give in to the inevitable negative self-thoughts, or low expectations from others.

Shawn says, “the individual that roots himself in the moment of the storm and looks it in the eye will eventually be victorious! This is something I know. I didn’t have to read about it or have someone tell me their story. Never give up. No matter what the situation is.”

Just imagine how much happier you would be if you could free your mind to overcome your own worst mistakes? Join me & Shawn to be inspired to do just that!
