Admit it… sometimes when singing in the shower you dream of becoming a rock star, jamming on stage in front of adoring fans.

Well, Jilly Morey is doing just that in her retirement – busting out 60+ original songs in just over 5 years and releasing her second EP this year!

She and her husband David are founders of the St. Louis-based duo Lost on the Metro. They both write the songs and she’s lead vocalist.

They didn’t start writing music together until they had been married for over two decades. After 21 years of marriage, it was a crazy string of events that gave birth to the band, and she and David have been writing songs together and performing ever since.

They’ve now been together for 26 years, and so they kind of finish each other’s sentences in a way (I bet you can relate!). David writes the riffs and Jilly jumps in with lyrics like jumping on a moving train. She says, “every song develops like that. It’s very fluid, with stops and starts and a natural comfortable progression until we feel like it’s done.”

Their latest EP, Buried Bones, centers on various forms of loss, and how it feels to carry that around in our personal or collective memories. Jilly says, “our songs tend to be stories – a quickly painted image and a moment captured in time. Writing and performing songs like these is cathartic for us. We hope listening to them feels that way too.”

After living your life checking off the boxes, get inspired to go after your own crazy dream! Join me & Jilly to hear more about how she & David got started down this path, the lessons they’ve learned, and their visions for the future.
