“It’s a trip that I’ve been talking 💩 since I was 3 years old and now I get paid for it!”

When Megan Throckmorton started Harris and Sons Septic in 2021, it was a business type that most people would never think of a beautiful young woman like her doing: literally hauling crap.

She didn’t just pick this business out of the blue, though. She researched and had all the data to know that she would be successful.

And she has the outgoing, vivacious personality to hit the ground running with sales. You’re not going to not talk with her! And she’ll educate you on crap and how easy it is to avoid huge expenses with a little maintenance while you’re at it.

Megan comes from a long line of entrepreneurs. Although she loved being a high school teacher, the pandemic made her feel like it was time to strike out on her own. This wife and mother of 3 boys was excited to start her own small business in 2021. And her little boys work with her! She’s teaching the next generation of entrepreneurs what it takes to succeed.

She says, “After 20 months in business we have served 100’s of awesome customers in our community and earned over 64 five-star Google Reviews. We provide routine pumpouts, licensed septic inspections, camera services, repairs, and new installs.”

Megan grew up on a farm in Scottsburg, Virginia, and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2013. We live in the same county and happened to meet the other weekend in a sports bar. I’m also a Hokie and love to talk, so I knew I needed to get Megan on the show!
