Many, many entrepreneurs are “misfits,” even some of the most successful in the world. If you feel like you don’t fit in, chances are the problem isn’t you; it’s the system that’s built for the middle of the bell curve. Stop trying to squish yourself into a box you don’t want to be in, anyway. Follow Trevor’s lead and blaze your own trail!

17-year-old entrepreneur Trevor Johnson has owned a lawn care business in Des Moines, Iowa, since he was 14. His income is more than many adults and he’s diligent about saving money. He even does many of his own equipment repairs. Disclaimer: he’s my cousin whom I love very much.

He’s also a middle red belt in Taekwondo (just below black belt if you’re like me & don’t know the ranks), a master Lego builder (paying for all these expensive sets out of money he earns), creates amazing original videos (from the script to the production & special effects), and plays bass guitar (the next concert will have him rocking a guitar solo for Elvis Presley’s Hound Dog). That’s just the tip of the iceberg of Trevor’s amazing life.

But guess what? He can’t go to his local community college’s “special needs” program because he didn’t go to public school – never mind he had to leave public school because the system failed in teaching him AND never mind that the community college curriculum wouldn’t even be challenging for him. He just wanted to go to college.

I’ve had a big beef with the bureaucracy in education that’s been failing our kids for decades. Never has it been more evident to me, though, than in seeing the battles that Trevor has fought to become successful IN SPITE OF the education system. We adults can all learn a ton from him!

This special episode will leave you feeling inspired and charged up to break down your own walls!
